Saints & Scoundrels of Arizona

Saints & Scoundrels of Arizona

Flagstaff Author - Julie McDonald

Julie McDonald loves her home state of Arizona! With some of the most spectacular scenery on the planet, it is indeed a land of color and contrast.
Equally colorful are the many characters who called Arizona home. Alvin Booth, whose parents were slaves, was born "free" just after the Civil War ended. He came to Globe, Arizona, where he made a fortune! Larcena Pennington was kidnapped by Apaches, stoned, then left for dead. The cowboys on the book cover were featured in the 1884 issue of Arizona Highways. Three years later they would be involved in the Pleasant Valley War, America's most deadly family feud. The outrageous Sarah Bowman, who "traveled with the troops." Native Americans, George Kirk, a Navajo Code Talker and famous Hopi artist, Fred Kabotie. "Hi Jolly" and his herd of camels. Since so many of my characters ended up at the dreaded Arizona Territorial Prison in Yuma, aka the "Hell Hole," I had to do a short chapter about that dreadful place. Over 30 short stories from Arizona. Good men and bad women, bad men and good women. I hope you enjoy reading these stories as much as I enjoyed writing them.
Here's to FUN history!
